We have noticed a momentum in M&A activities especially in the consumer, IT and Financial services which includes investor exits to strategic buyers in several cases. Like we pointed in our last newsletter, content remains an active play for telcos and e-tailers and we don't foresee the trend slowing down. As issues around GST and E-way bills appear to be stabilizing, we have included an article which talks about the impact of GST in M&A.
In India, we have seen limited M&A transactions in the month of February- the key highlight being Reliance Industry's acquisitions into media space to presumably support its telecom content library. This space is becoming interesting as Amazon and Netflix are adding more local content to their portfolio as well. On technology front we have covered two important aspects - Blockchain and General Data Protection Regulations.
This month has seen limited deals - the merger of IDFC Bank and Capital First stands out. We have provided a list of deals along with certain reported parameters.
